Directing Philosophy
I believe that theatre starts with trust between everyone in the space, and I believe the core of a director's job is to build that trust.
I believe that, while a director provides the vision for a show, he or she needs to trust the actors to create their own characters.
I believe a director's job is to create a great show in all aspects, from the acting to the tech.
I believe directing is more than simply blocking and running scenes. A great performance goes deeper than what is shown on the outside.
I believe In order to create a great performance, a director must make the actors, production staff and technicians as passionate about the show as they are.
I believe that a great performance hinges on the actor's honesty. When a director leaves his or her heart and soul on stage, the actor will follow suit, and the audience will pick it all up and believe in what they are seeing.
